Pastor Roecker

Pastor Eric S. Roecker has been serving Resurrection since 1998. He was born and grew up in the Milwaukee, WI area. He spent his high school years at Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, WI. Upon graduation he enrolled at Northwestern College in Watertown. During his years at Northwestern he studied Greek and Hebrew so that he could read the Bible in its original languages. He participated in golf, wrestling and baseball, acted in a production of South Pacific and served on the student council. He was graduated in 1994 with a bachelor of liberal arts degree.

The final years of Pastor Roecker’s formal ministry training were spent at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI. There he spent a great deal of time using the language skills he had learned in college to translate and study the Bible. He was also trained in the skills of preaching, teaching and counseling. His third year of seminary was spent serving as a vicar (pastoral intern) at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Green Bay, WI. He was graduated from the seminary in 1998 with a Masters of Divinity degree. In August of that year he arrived in Virginia Beach to begin serving as Resurrection’s pastor.

Pastor Roecker met his wife, Mary, while in college. They were married in 1998. Mary is a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering and worked for a number of years as an environmental engineer. Mary now works as a stay at home mom for the Roeckers’ two children– Rees and Riley.

Pastor Roecker’s ministry focus is reaching out to our community and serving those who visit us.
