The Little Lambs have watched metamorphosis in action! Our ladybug larvae and painted lady caterpillars started out so small and tiny. They ate and ate, then eventually reached their pupa stage–ladybugs forming hard round shapes, while the caterpillars turned into chrysalises. Finally, they emerged!!!! We even had the privilege of watching a few of the butterflies make their way out of the chrysalises. We released the ladybugs into our garden to help keep the aphid population down and we let the butterflies fly away. We will miss having them in the classroom, but hope to spot them outside on the playground!
