O Lord, who created the heavens and the earth,
You created all things, and care for all things, and provide for all things, as our Lord and God who reigns in heaven. You also govern all things, and control the events of this world. Come to the aid of those in our community, and country, and fellow citizens in our world. Bring to a swift conclusion that pandemic that has afflicted so many. Send your angels to carry the souls of our brothers and sisters who pass away into your outstretched arms. Grant comfort and solace to those who are suffering. Give patience and perseverance to all who are affected by the virus’ influence. Bless the efforts of government officials in our country and throughout the world to curb the effect of the disease. Bless the people as they obey their leaders and show them honor and respect in this difficult time.
Lord, you also know the hardships that will come as a result of this disease. You have promised to care for the needs of your people, and have commanded us not to worry about tomorrow, but to entrust it into your hands. We do not know the trials the coming weeks will present, but you do. Give each of us an attitude of love and generosity, that we might help those around us, and serve those who need help in whatever way we can. Give each of us an opportunity to confess the confidence we have in your power and grace. Carry the burden of our worry, and remove our anxiety as we trust in your promise to provide and care for us.
Above all, use this time to teach us to focus our attention you, our Lord and Savior. Give us hearts that humbly grasp your saving grace and rely on your mercy each step of the way. In your holy name we pray. Amen
