Why do we give?
Motivated by the many blessings of God, including the sending of Jesus as our Savior, the members of Resurrection joyfully bring their offering to the Lord. We take the encouragement from Scripture to heart: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
How do we give?
In addition to giving monetary gifts, our congregation blesses our community through ongoing food collections for the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and hosts regular blood drives with the Red Cross. Resurrection also supports the sharing of the Gospel in the United States and throughout the world in cooperation with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
God’s Word reminds us:
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”
2 Corinthians 8:9
